The ManAdvantage Mission

ManAdvantage’s mission is to provide children affected by the death or disability of a parent with the opportunity to continue or begin their involvement in the sport of hockey, through the use of corporate sponsors and fundraising. Hockey can make a difference in a child’s life by teaching self-esteem, teamwork and a multitude of other life skills. Our goal is to make sure that no child has to forego the opportunity to play hockey due to misfortune that results from the death or disability of a parent.

Al'Laya's Experience

At the age of eight, Al’laya attended a hockey event through another organization helping her cope with the loss of her dad to suicide. From then on, her mom says, the sport was all Al’laya could talk about. In finding ManAdvantage, the family found more than just financial help to make a little girl’s dream a reality — they found a group that helped them put Al’laya in a class to learn the basics and teach her the ins and outs of the sport. Now she’s on her way to becoming a league regular!
